1. Daily Cleaning Tasks
Start your day and end your day with a clean office! Spend 5 minutes of your time to clean and toss away your unnecessary items on your desk. Tidy up all the files and documents on the table. Use wipes for your table, and electronic disinfecting wipes for your gadgets like a laptop or mouse. At the end of each work day, try to put away files and declutter to reset your space.

2. Weekly Cleaning Tasks
To avoid the dirt and dust piling up in the other areas of your space make sure to have your microfiber cloth ready and dust all the surfaces in your office, shelves, picture frames, door knobs, windows, and bookcases. Don’t forget the sides and back of your monitor, laptop, and office chair too. Empty your trash bin and replace it with a new garbage bag. Open your window once in a while and consider adding a cute indoor plant to your desk to add some fresh air and an element of nature.

3. Monthly Cleaning Tasks
Monthly maintenance is much needed for the more hard to reach areas. Wipe the walls as dust can accumulate on the walls over time. Move your desk, chairs, shelves and other furniture to vacuum or sweep the floor to reach areas below your desk and behind any cabinets. This helps in removing the dust and other allergens that are hidden and linger in your office space over time.
4. Seasonal Cleaning Tasks
Make sure to have time to organize your files and shelves. Spend time organizing your files thoroughly and discard the outdated files and unnecessary documents – that includes digital decluttering too. Back up important files and delete unnecessary ones and uninstall the apps that are no longer being used (clear your cookies and cache on your browser as well).
Spring: Perfect time for a deep carpet cleaning (if applicable).
Summer: Take advantage of the daylight and clean or switch out dusty light fixtures (replace light bulbs if needed)
Fall: Make time to clean your electronic devices, and remove dust from computer vents and keyboards.
Winter: This is a great time to begin decluttering to start with a clean fresh workspace for the new year.
5. Organizing Your Cleaning Supplies
An organized and clean office is a productive one, to make sure that we avoid clutter, maximize your space wall mounted organizers, shelves or cabinets for your files and cleaning supplies within reach. Use drawer dividers and caddies for easy access to your things. Bins to categorize your cleaning supplies, you can DIY your old containers and jars for storing purposes.
Tip! Invest in reusable cleaning items such as microfiber cloth, buy products in bulk to minimize plastic packaging, have eco-friendly refillable cleaning solutions and label all your cleaning supplies clearly.
Tips for Maintaining a Clean Home Office
Start small! Building a habit may take time but dedicating even 5 minutes to cleaning your workspace before or after you work can help you a lot not just in cleaning the dust but also in being productive. Try the 5-minute rule, if it doesn’t take more than 5 minutes, do it right away to avoid a pile of clutter in your desk or your office space over time.
