Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. Spooky movies, fun costumes and the fall weather. I love to decorate in fun ways for Halloween. Halloween Decor from Dollar tree has always been a great option. It’s affordable and can easily be transformed into fun DIYs.
Dollar Tree has a great selection of seasonal decor and great pieces and materials to add to a DIY project. With everything being only one dollar you just can’t go wrong! They have so many options to build your own creations or ready to use decor as well.
All stores have a different selection, but there are some items that you can find at just about all of their locations. The Dollar Tree I went to had a very large selection of Halloween items, but not much for their other fall decor. The one I usually shop at on the other hand doesn’t have as much Halloween items but more of general fall decor. It can be very beneficial to check all your local Dollar Trees around you.
They also get new items weekly. If your local store doesn’t have something you’re looking for or hoping to score, plan a day the following week to check for it or to travel to a different location. They should also have ads available in store to show what new items they will be getting that following week.
Halloween makes the perfect theme for DIY home decor projects, there are so many fun ideas to create. The best part, most things Halloween related are not perfect! The messier (most times) the better making DIYs a breeze. Let your creativity flow with these fun Dollar Tree Halloween decor crafts.
Candy Stand
The first Dollar Tree Halloween decor we will be creating is a stand that can be used for candy or just as a piece of decor itself.
Materials Needed:
Candle Stick
Web Bowl
Colored Spider Webbing
Various Small Decor- Witch Hats, Black Skull, Pumpkins.
You will also need paint, paint brushes or sponges and a hot glue gun.
This piece can be used in a few different ways. You can keep it the way it is and use it as a fun piece of decor around your home. Come Halloween night you can also fill it up with candy for a candy dish for Trick or Treaters or for yourself!
These were the only style candlestick this location had, they came in three different sizes, I chose the middle size. I would have preferred the other style candlestick you often see in Dollar Store DIYs, but this one still worked and looks great!
Customize this to your own style by adding your own mix of paint colors and decor pieces. Whether you want a more spooky look with skulls and spiders or a more cute look with fun pumpkins and cute characters, you can customize this piece in many ways.
First, paint the candlestick with a black paint. One coat covered this nicely, you may choose to do two if you want a more opaque look. You can choose to leave it all black but, I wanted to add a bit more color. I took a light amount of orange and red and lightly brushed this over the black to create a fun mix of Halloween colors.
I still wanted the candlestick to be black with light streaks of color throughout. Anywhere where the red or orange was too opaque I continued to brush out or added a bit of black over top to make it more subtle.
Let this dry completely. While this dries I began to fill the bowl with the decor I had picked out.
I chose a black bowl and purple webbing, there were many other color options for both of these items! Cut a decent amount of webbing to add into the bottom of your bowl. I also picked out all the spider rings in the webbing, I set one aside for my other project and kept the other two for this one.
I wanted to play around with the small decor pieces before the candlestick had dried, it may be easier to glue empty, however, I didn’t have trouble adding it once it was already full. Just be very careful not to knock it over!
Add a generous amount of hot glue to the rim of the candlestick and carefully set the center of the bowl on top and apply pressure. To help it be more secure, I added a small amount of additional glue around the outer edge while I was firmly pressing the bowl down.
After a few minutes, I knocked her over.. if you know me you know how clumsy I am so this came to no surprise. But she held up perfectly!
Halloween Bouquet and Vase
Our next Halloween decor from Dollar Tree is this fun spooky vase!
Materials Needed:
Clear Vase
Spider Webbing
Stems & Flowers (4)
Pumpkins
For this project, start by painting the vase black. Again, I wanted something more than just plain black so I chose to add in orange. I did this by randomly placing large orange dots around the vase and brushing them out. If one spot was too opaque I added a little black paint over top.
You want to do this next part while the paint is still wet and tacky.
Cut a small piece of spider webbing and start stretching it out as much as you can without ripping it apart. Carefully lay the webbing over the vase. Take a sponge brush and lightly press the webbing down where needed, you can also slightly dray the webbing into any area you may have missed or anywhere there is too much. I used my sponge that still had black paint on it, which blended the webbing and paint together beautifully.
Take the spider ring we set aside earlier and cut the ring part off of the spider. Add a small dot of hot glue to add to the front of the vase.
You can either cut up your stems and flowers to allow you to arrange them better, or you can just pop them right in and arange from there!
I added two bunches of their eyeball roses and two bunches of orange and purple branches! I also used the small orange pumpkins that come on a stick and two witch hats.
If you’re looking for some fun DIYs to decorate with this Halloween check out your local Dollar Tree for some great ideas and inspiration.
Both of these Dollar Store DIY home decor projects were super fun to complete! They only took about an hour in total and that was with little B painting a pumpkin (but more of herself) next to me.
Dollar Tree Halloween Decor DIYs are the perfect addition to your home for the spooky season. Make them customizable to your own decor style with the many options they offer of different colors and different items.
